Polyphenols Plant polyphenols are compounds that are synthesized by plants to protect them from environmental stressors like UV radiation and oxidative damage. They are made up of phenolic compounds that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Plant polyphenols have significant health benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, reduced cancer risk, better skin health, and improved cognitive function. They are found in a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, teas, and other plant foods, and can be consumed in supplement form. By including plant polyphenols in our diets, we can experience these benefits and improve our overall health.
