Dr. Wenbin Tan is an Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina, United States. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2008 from the Department of Neurobiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and subsequently moved to UCI to investigate the pathogenesis of port wine stains (PWS) and the development of anti-angiogenesis agents combined with laser treatment for PWS therapy. His research has focused on angiogenesis pathways and therapeutic interventions, including studies on topical axitinib and rapamycin in suppressing pulsed dye laser-induced angiogenesis, as well as identifying the somatic GNAQ mutation (R183Q) within PWS blood vessels. With over 23 indexed publications, his most-cited work is a 2024 systematic review on chlorogenic acid's biological functions, mechanistic actions, and therapeutic potentials, which has received 315 citations.
