Overview
Blood pressure is a measure of the force exerted by the heart on the walls of the arteries as it pumps blood around the body. It is one of the most important indicators of cardiovascular health, as it can provide an indication of the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and even kidney disease. High blood pressure is a major medical risk factor and can be effectively managed with lifestyle modifications, such as exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet, in addition to medications. Low blood pressure is also a concern as it can indicate an underlying medical problem. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advised for people of all ages, especially those with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
