Editorial governance

How the board governs the journal

The board’s role is scholarly stewardship: safeguarding rigorous, independent peer review and the integrity of the published record. Not every member handles every manuscript — submissions are assigned to editors with relevant expertise.

Independence

Editorial independence

Decisions to accept or reject a manuscript are based solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. They are independent of the publisher and are not influenced by any article processing charge, membership, or editorial role.

Peer review

Peer-review oversight

Manuscripts undergo single-blind peer review (double-blind on request), with each submission assessed by independent expert reviewers. Editors oversee the review, weigh reviewer assessments, and take the editorial decision.

Conflicts & confidentiality

Conflicts of interest and confidentiality

Editors declare relevant interests and recuse themselves from handling their own submissions or any manuscript where a conflict exists; those papers are managed independently. Submissions and reviews are treated as confidential.

Research integrity

Integrity and ethical concerns

The board upholds publication ethics and research integrity, and reviews concerns about published work. Where warranted, the journal issues corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions in line with recognized ethical guidance.

Scholarly role, not medical endorsement. Editorial board membership reflects scholarly and professional standing in cardiovascular research. It is not a clinical endorsement, and nothing on this page is medical advice. JHC publishes peer-reviewed research for scholarly and professional use.
