Overview
Measles is a highly contagious virus that is spread through the air by coughing or sneezing. It causes a distinctive rash on the skin, fever, runny nose and watery eyes. Measles can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia and inflammation of the brain, which can cause long-term damage or even death. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles, and is recommended for all children and adults. Vaccination has resulted in a dramatic reduction in the number of cases of measles worldwide. It is important to ensure that all individuals are immunized to prevent the spread of the disease.
