Overview
Overnutrition is an excessive intake of nutrients and calories that can lead to long-term, adverse health effects. It is typically caused by an imbalance of energy intake from food and physical activity levels. Overnutrition can result in an increase in body weight and body fat, putting a person at risk of becoming overweight or obese. This can in turn lead to numerous health problems such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain types of cancer. Overnutrition is a preventable condition and can be avoided by following a balanced diet and getting regular physical activity. Eating a variety of foods from all the food groups, maintaining a healthy weight, and being physically active can help reduce the risk of overnutrition and its associated health risks.
