Overview

Agricultural ecology is the interdisciplinary study of the relationships between plants, animals, and the environment in agricultural systems. It combines aspects of the natural and social sciences to enhance agricultural productivity, sustainability, and resilience. Agricultural ecology studies have helped inform improved strategies for pest control, crop rotation, soil management, and other interventions. These strategies help to reduce agricultural inputs and waste, conserve natural resources, and improve the quality of produce and livestock products.
