Overview
Sustainable agriculture is an approach to food production that aims to maintain the environmental, economic and social resources used in the process. It emphasizes the use of renewable resources, conservation of soil and water, diversification of crops and integration of livestock production. Sustainable agriculture also seeks to benefit biodiversity and the surrounding environment, making use of policies and best practices that improve the sustainability of food production systems. It has many benefits, including reducing the adverse impacts of climate change, promoting economic development in rural areas and providing healthier, more nutritious food.
