Overview
Behavioral medicine is an interdisciplinary field of health care that seeks to understand and improve health outcomes by taking into account the relationship between behaviors, psychosocial factors, and physical health. It combines the disciplines of psychology, psychiatry, and public health to help patients and their families cope with the disruptive effects of disease, disability, and other health-related problems. It includes interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques, lifestyle modifications, and other treatments that can help people better manage their physical health and mental well-being. Behavioral medicine is an important component of successful health care, as it can improve patient outcomes by addressing the psychological, social, and behavioral aspects of health.
