Overview
Blood vessels are an integral part of the cardiovascular system, carrying blood around the body to provide nutrients and oxygen to tissues. They consist of arteries, veins, and capillaries, which transport blood away from, and back to, the heart. Blood vessels play an essential role in regulating blood pressure, maintaining body temperature, and helping to distribute hormones, enzymes and other important chemicals throughout the body. They provide a major pathway for the immune system to reach infected and damaged areas. Without blood vessels, our body would not be able to survive.
