Biography
Farzam Tavankar is an Assistant Professor at Islamic Azad University, Khalkhal, Ardebil, Iran. His research focuses on the ecological impacts of logging operations in Caspian and Hyrcanian forests, with particular emphasis on logging wounds, tree healing processes, and diameter growth in broadleaf species such as lime-trees (Tilia begonifolia), beech (Fagus orientalis), and Caucasian alder (Alnus subcordata). He has investigated the long-term effects of single-tree selection cutting on coarse woody debris, decay development, and residual tree damage associated with cable-skidding and other harvesting methods. His work addresses both ecological sustainability and technological implications of forest management practices in natural mixed stands of northern Iran.
